Sufiaana - Sufi music is a genre of music inspired by Sufism, and by the works of Sufi poets, like Rumi, Hafez, Bulleh Shah and Khwaja Ghulam Farid. It is a very vibrant form of Music which in its true form attempt to talk to God and the heavens through the song. Spanning across almost every continent and over a millennium, the Sufi movement has influenced various cultures and ways of life. Besides being a strong philosophical and spiritual guide for its followers, the discipline has also gone onto influence art through way of dance, poetry and perhaps most notably music. The most popular form of Sufi music is the Quwaali in which both the performer and the listener feel transported to another state of being similar to the effects of Whirling. Though traditionally, Sufi music is an ode to the Almighty, it is also used in pop albums and Bollywood soundtracks in a modern new avatar without taking away from the purity of the art form.
